New Delhi: Siya Goyal, the woman accused of murdering her fiancé Ketan Agarwal with the help of her alleged lover, has sparked fresh outrage after making an obscene gesture towards the media while being escorted by police in Pune.

A 17-second video shared by news agency IANS on X showed Siya leaving her residence in Pune's Market Yard area after police conducted investigations at the house. Dressed in a black T-shirt with a printed scarf covering her face, she looked towards waiting journalists and raised her middle finger before being taken away.

The clip quickly went viral on social media, with many users criticising her behaviour. One user described her as "entitled", while another wrote, "As evil as they come - no remorse".

Police had initially registered Ketan Agarwal's death as an accidental fall after Siya claimed he had slipped into a valley during a visit to Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. However, investigators later became suspicious, reportedly noting her lack of remorse following his death.

According to police, Siya and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, conspired to kill Ketan, whose marriage to Siya had been arranged by their families and was scheduled for November.

Investigators allege that Siya first attempted to kill Ketan on June 14 by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort. He reportedly survived after grabbing onto a bush. Police claim she then created a distraction by screaming about a snake before comforting him with a hug to avoid suspicion.

Days later, she allegedly persuaded Ketan to return to the fort, where Chetan had already arrived. Police say the pair then pushed Ketan from behind into the gorge, killing him.

Both Siya and Chetan have been arrested and are scheduled to be produced before the Wadgaon Court at 2.30 pm on Friday. Pune Rural Police are expected to seek an extension of their custody, while lawyers representing the accused are likely to request judicial custody.
