Shocking! Man cuts wife’s nose over suspicion in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua

Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): A horrific incident was reported from Padalwa village under the Ranapur police station area in Jhabua district, where a man allegedly mutilated his wife’s nose after suspecting her of infidelity.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Rakesh Bilwal, attacked his 23-year-old wife on Tuesday following an argument about her character. The woman was hospitalised after sustaining serious injuries, and an FIR was registered against the husband.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Shiv Dayal Singh confirmed the arrest, stating, “A complaint was received at Ranapur police station that the husband of a 23-year-old woman assaulted her and inflicted an injury on her nose. She was hospitalised, and after obtaining the medico-legal certificate, a case was registered. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband had been doubting his wife’s fidelity for some time. The couple had recently returned from Gujarat, where they had gone for work. Upon returning to their village on Tuesday, the husband reportedly assaulted his wife and cut her nose with a blade.
The victim recounted the traumatic incident, saying, “When we were coming from Gujarat, I told him to get a divorce. He said we would discuss it at home. But as soon as we reached, he started beating me with a stick and then cut my nose with a blade. My son kept crying, but he didn’t stop. After that, he himself took me to the hospital.”
The police have sent the accused to jail and further investigation is underway.
Authorities described the case as a brutal act of domestic violence, highlighting the continuing issue of gender-based violence in rural Madhya Pradesh.
