Jaipur: A burglary attempt in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district has gone viral after CCTV footage showed a man wearing a mask resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi trying to break into a mobile phone shop. The unusual disguise has sparked widespread reactions online, while police continue to investigate.

A failed burglary attempt in Rajasthan's Bhilwara district has attracted widespread attention after CCTV footage captured a suspect wearing a mask resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi while allegedly trying to break into a mobile phone shop.

The incident took place on Sunday night in the Kareda police station area, where the suspect was seen using an iron rod in an attempt to break the shop's lock. Police said the man failed to gain entry and left after several unsuccessful attempts.

What the CCTV footage shows

According to police, the suspect deliberately covered his face with a Narendra Modi mask, similar to those commonly seen during political rallies.

Station House Officer Puran Mal Meena said CCTV footage from nearby locations captured the suspect without the mask, making it easier for investigators to identify him.

Police also noted that the individual had been seen moving around the locality during the day in the same clothes before the attempted burglary.

Was another theft linked?

Investigators said another mobile phone shop located around 800 metres away was burgled on the same night.

However, officials have not established any connection between the two incidents, as the second shop did not have CCTV coverage.

Police said efforts to identify and trace the suspect are ongoing.

Internet reacts

The CCTV clip quickly spread across social media, prompting a wave of memes, jokes and political commentary.

Several users shared humorous remarks about the unusual disguise, while others posted political opinions and satire referencing the incident. Some posts also contained partisan slogans and allegations that remain personal opinions expressed online rather than verified facts.

The viral reactions have added to the attention surrounding the case, although police continue to focus on identifying the suspect and investigating the attempted break-in.
