Bengaluru: A shocking incident in Bengaluru has left the city reeling as a staff nurse was allegedly killed by a colleague.
Mamatha, a 39-year-old staff nurse at a private hospital in Bengaluru, was allegedly murdered by her junior colleague, C Sudhakar, aged 25, with whom she was in a relationship. Police said the incident occurred at Mamatha’s rented home in Kumarswamy Layout on Thursday.

The police reported that the dispute arose after Mamatha insisted on marrying Sudhakar, only to discover he was already engaged. The disagreement escalated into a heated argument, during which Sudhakar allegedly took a kitchen knife and attacked her, slitting her throat.

Before fleeing, he reportedly took Mamatha’s gold chain, possibly to mislead investigators into considering a robbery angle. The police acted swiftly, registering a murder case and apprehending the accused.

Mamatha hailed from Hiriyur in Chitradurga district and had been employed at Jayadeva Hospital, where the relationship with Sudhakar began. Authorities confirmed that the accused is currently in custody as the investigation continues.

Mamatha’s family had raised concerns when she failed to respond to repeated calls, prompting them to alert the landlord. Upon inspection, the body was discovered, and police were immediately notified.

Senior officials stated that the accused acted in a fit of rage and premeditation appears linked to the personal dispute over marriage. Investigators are examining the circumstances to determine the full sequence of events, including Sudhakar’s motive for attempting to stage the crime as a robbery.

The case has drawn attention to relationship-related crimes and domestic violence in Bengaluru. Police continue to investigate and have assured that legal proceedings will follow.
