Pantheerankavu dowry abuse case: Anticipatory bail granted to Rahul's mother and sister

Kozhikode: In the controversial Pantheerankavu dowry abuse case, mother and sister of prime accused Rahul P have been granted anticipatory bail. Rahul’s mother Usha Kumari and sister Karthika are the second and third accused in this assault case.
The bail was granted by the Principal Judge of District And Sessions Court of Kozhikode, Muralee Krishna, on Tuesday. However, the court has asked them to appear before the investigating officer and produce their passport when asked.
They will be appearing before the Assistant Commissioner of Feroke, Saju K Abraham, on May 30.
Advocate Shameem Paksan appeared for the accused, while public prosecutor K N Jayakumar appeared for the prosecution.
The bail application was filed on May 17. The court considered the application on May 20. However, later asked the police to submit a report, for which the case was adjourned to May 27.
The anticipatory bail was granted to them on May 28 after police submitted the report to the court. The report stated that the prime accused Rahul is on the run after torturing the survivor for gold. The police had sought the custody of Rahul’s mother and sister for further probe.
