Kannur, Kerala: Three students have been arrested in connection with an alleged ragging incident at a government-aided Higher Secondary School in Kannur. The incident, which occurred on February 12, involved the assault of a junior student for not following orders from his seniors.

The five students allegedly assaulted the 17-year-old boy, a plus one student, after he did not show respect or comply with their orders. According to police, the attack resulted in the student sustaining a hand fracture, and he is currently receiving medical treatment.

The Kolavallur Police registered an assault case against all five students involved in the incident. Following the school authorities' complaint, charges under the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act were also invoked. Three of the five students have been arrested in relation to the attack.

After the incident, the school authorities launched an internal inquiry, leading to the suspension of the accused students. The incident has raised concerns following a similar case the day before at the Government College of Nursing in Kottayam, where five students were arrested for ragging a junior.
