A severe heatwave continues to grip Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, with temperatures soaring above 45 degrees Celsius in several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Akola, Amravati, and Wardha, warning that temperatures could touch 47 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

According to weather officials in Nagpur, no major change in weather conditions is expected over the next five to seven days, keeping the region under intense heat stress.

Residents in Nagpur are taking precautions to cope with the extreme weather by staying hydrated, covering their heads, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. Many commuters and field workers are relying on buttermilk, lemon water, fruits, and energy drinks to prevent dehydration.

To provide some relief to commuters, Nagpur authorities have installed green shade nets at key traffic intersections, helping shield people from the scorching sun while waiting at traffic signals.
