Srinagar’s Tulip Garden set to open early as lakhs of blooms await visitors
Tourists are set to flock to Srinagar as the famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden prepares to host its annual tulip show, showcasing lakhs of blooms in vibrant colours.
The colourful spring spectacle, which usually begins in the last week of March, will open earlier this year on March 16. Visitors can expect a breathtaking sight as lakhs of tulips in vibrant shades blanket the sprawling garden against the picturesque backdrop of the Zabarwan Hills.
The tulip festival has grown into a major tourist attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year who arrive to witness the flowers in full bloom during the roughly four-week flowering season.
Interestingly, the tulips have bloomed earlier than usual this year after Kashmir experienced its hottest February in decades. Despite the unusual weather, the early bloom has only added to the excitement surrounding the festival.
The show will be inaugurated by Omar Abdullah, chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Garden authorities say extensive preparations have been made to ensure visitors have a memorable experience.
With endless rows of colourful tulips, the garden is once again expected to become a hotspot for tourists, photographers and selfie lovers eager to capture the beauty of spring in Srinagar.
