84 lakh applicants for allowance: Rahul Gandhi questions Mamata’s 5 lakh jobs guarantee
Raigan: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday condemned the "hate-filled thinking" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), asserting that their ideologies are systematically undermining the Indian Constitution.
During an election demonstration in the Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal, the former Congress president levelled serious allegations against the saffron party, accusing it of subverting the democratic process.
"Hate-filled thinking of the BJP and the RSS is destroying the Constitution," Gandhi told the gathered crowd. He further alleged that both organisations are "involved in vote theft" and are actively "destroying democracy."
Critique of State Governance
While focusing his primary criticism on the national ruling party, Gandhi also targeted the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which governs West Bengal. He claimed that the administration under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has failed to fulfil its employment guarantees.
"Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee promised jobs to five lakh people," Gandhi remarked. However, he contended that the scale of the state's economic distress is evident in the fact that "84 lakh youths have applied for unemployment allowance."
The remarks signal a dual-front offensive by the Congress leadership as it navigates the complex political landscape of West Bengal, challenging both the ideological framework of the BJP and the developmental record of the TMC.
