London Fashion Week to showcase Odisha's iconic handlooms

Odisha's renowned Sambalpuri handloom and Habaspuri silk from Kalahandi are set to be showcased at London Fashion Week, bringing India's rich textile heritage to one of the world's most prestigious fashion platforms.

The collection blends traditional handwoven craftsmanship with contemporary fashion, highlighting Odisha's centuries-old weaving traditions before a global audience.

Fashion designer Sujeet Mehar said the showcase is a proud moment not only for our region but for the entire country. He noted that taking the craft skills of a small village to an international runway demonstrates the global appeal of India's traditional handloom.

According to Mehar, the event will inspire young people to value and preserve their cultural heritage while opening new employment opportunities for weavers and artisans.
