How Jharkhand's ITI skill college is empowering women through culinary education

Young women from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and minority communities are receiving professional culinary arts training, hospitality skills and employment opportunities at the ITI Skill College in Ranchi, run by the Jharkhand Government's Welfare Department in partnership with the PREJHA Foundation.

The institute offers a one-year culinary course followed by one year of on-the-job training outside Jharkhand.

To provide practical exposure, the institute organised a mango festival from July 6 to 11, where students prepared nearly a dozen fusion mango dishes. The culinary programme has already helped hundreds secure jobs, while 192 young women are currently undergoing training.
