Jardalu mangoes hit Delhi’s power corridors
The distinct aroma of Bhagalpur's prized Jardalu mangoes will soon fill India’s highest corridors of power. Following a better-than-expected bumper harvest, horticulture officials confirmed that the first premium consignment has left for Patna, en route to New Delhi.
Renowned for their unique sweetness and signature fiberless pulp, these GI-tagged (Geographical Indication) mangoes are specially selected, graded, and packaged for India's top dignitaries. Destinations include Rashtrapati Bhavan, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, and the residence of the Chief Justice of India.
The exotic fruit recently gained national attention after being spotlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat radio address. Meanwhile, highlighting its cultural importance, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary celebrated the mango's success as a matter of immense pride for the state. drawing parallels to Bhagalpur’s iconic silk industry.
