India seized complete control on Day 1 of the one-off Test against Afghanistan, ending the day at a commanding 368 for 3. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with an unbeaten 103, registering his 11th Test century and guiding India into a dominant position.

KL Rahul was equally impressive, producing a fluent knock of 105 before falling shortly after reaching his 12th Test hundred. The experienced batter shared a crucial 139-run partnership with B Sai Sudharsan, who continued his fine form with a well-crafted 81.

After Rahul's dismissal, Gill found strong support from Rishabh Pant, who remained unbeaten on 50 at stumps. The pair added 121 runs for the fourth wicket.
