Chennai: The corridors of power in Tamil Nadu are witnessing a historic transition as the DMK prepares to exit office following its defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections. At the State Secretariat, staff have begun the process of removing the belongings and official portraits of outgoing ministers, including a prominent photograph of the outgoing chief minister, M K Stalin. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has formally accepted the resignation of Stalin and his Council of Ministers following a decisive mandate that saw the DMK unseated by the emerging political force, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
