Andhra Pradesh launches ‘Yogandhra 2026': Statewide yoga drive ahead of International Yoga Day
Andhra Pradesh launched its statewide ‘Yogandhra 2026’ campaign, marking the start of a two-week series of yoga programmes leading up to International Yoga Day on June 21.
On Sunday, a number of events were held across the state as part of the initiative. In Vijayawada, the NTR District Police organised a special yoga session involving police personnel and more than 1,000 individuals undergoing rehabilitation from drug addiction. The programme also included ganja offenders, rowdy sheeters and people identified through police screening drives, highlighting yoga as a tool for wellness and social reintegration.
Meanwhile, in Tirupati, around 1,500 participants gathered at the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park for a mass yoga session. The event brought together public representatives, government employees, students, women and members of voluntary organisations.
Officials said yoga programmes will continue across districts at secretariat, block and divisional levels until June 21.
