As the year draws to a close, food lovers in Ahmedabad are being treated to a unique culinary experience that celebrates the richness of India’s rural food traditions.

The ongoing 23rd Sattvic Food Festival is showcasing rare vegetarian delicacies sourced from some of the most remote corners of the country, dishes that are otherwise difficult to find in urban settings.

Sattvic food, rooted in Ayurvedic philosophy, is believed to promote purity, calmness, and mental clarity. Such foods are considered beneficial for physical health, emotional balance, and spiritual well-being.

From Sikkim’s traditional fare like buckwheat momos made with kuttu ka aata and wholesome thukpas, to regional Gujarati specialities, the festival offers a wide variety of flavours that keep visitors coming back for more.

Spread across 80 stalls, the festival features nearly 400 different delicacies, ensuring that visitors are spoilt for choice. Over the years, the event has built a loyal following, with seasoned attendees even sharing tips—such as the best time of day to enjoy authentic Gujarati dishes.

Organised by the Srishti Foundation, which has long been committed to promoting organic and naturally grown food, the festival is entirely self-funded and operates without government support.

According to the organisers, the primary objective of the Sattvic Food Festival is to empower rural communities by providing them a platform to showcase their traditional culinary knowledge and skills.

Beyond food, the festival also offers wellness products crafted using age-old practices from remote regions, further highlighting India’s rich heritage of natural living.

With heavy footfall throughout the event, the enthusiastic response from visitors reflects the quality, authenticity, and diversity of offerings on display.

The Sattvic Food Festival will conclude on December 31, making it a must-visit destination for those looking to end the year on a flavourful and wholesome note.
