Dhanush calls Keerthy Suresh’s ‘Dorothy’ a ‘masterpiece’, praises Karthik Subbaraj and Ilaiyaraaja

Chennai: Actor, producer and director Dhanush has praised director Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Dorothy’, calling the Keerthy Suresh-starrer a “masterpiece” following its worldwide release.

Dhanush shared his reaction on X, praising Subbaraj’s direction and the performances in the film. He wrote, "Dorothy - a masterpiece from @karthiksubbaraj."

He also praised the film’s intensity, performances and music, particularly Ilaiyaraaja’s background score.

He wrote, "Bold and poignant. Raw and intense. Every actor has performed brilliantly. Our maestro ilayaraja sir’s background score will blow your mind away. Rudhrathandavam from Isaignani. Best wishes to my dear friend Karthick Subbaraj and the entire team on the release tom. God bless."

The original soundtracks from ‘Dorothy’ were released ahead of the film’s theatrical debut. The makers also organised the Dorothy concert, where the film’s OSTs were performed by a live orchestra.

The film stars Keerthy Suresh alongside Sananth and Rishikanth. Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, ‘Dorothy’ features music by Ilaiyaraaja and is set in the 1990s.

S Thirunavukkarasu serves as the director of photography, while Ganesh Siva has handled the editing. Dinesh Subbarayan choreographed the stunt sequences and Sherif M the dance sequences, while Praveen Raja designed the costumes.

The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, and presented by Jio Studios and Sikhya Entertainment. It is produced by Sikhya Entertainment and Dhammam Films. Pavan Narendra is the executive producer, while Saravanan Chandran has contributed additional screenplay.

‘Dorothy’ had its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it was screened in the Centrepiece section. The film received a standing ovation from the audience at its premiere.

The film has now opened in cinemas worldwide.
