‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ trailer: Nivin Pauly plays an immortal who has lived for 8,000 years

The trailer of director Ram’s ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’, starring Nivin Pauly, Anjali and Soori, has been released. The Tamil film is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 1. Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films will bring the film to audiences in Kerala.

Written and directed by Ram, ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ is produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions. The film marks Nivin Pauly’s return to Tamil cinema after his 2019 film ‘Richie’.

The trailer gives a glimpse into a world that combines mystery, fantasy, romance, humour, action and emotion. It also introduces the unusual premise and the central characters while leaving several aspects of the story unexplained.

One of the biggest reveals hinted at in the trailer is Nivin Pauly’s character, who appears to have lived for more than 8,000 years without dying. The story reportedly follows the connection between an ordinary man and an immortal who has spent centuries searching for his love.

A train journey appears to bring the two characters together, setting the story in motion. The trailer features several lighter moments between Nivin and Soori, alongside scenes of conflict and emotional intensity. Nivin is also seen in different shades throughout the trailer, while Anjali appears to play an important role in the unfolding narrative.

The film has already made its mark on the international festival circuit. ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ premiered at the 53rd International Film Festival Rotterdam and was among the 12 films selected for the festival’s Big Screen competition.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music, with additional music by Santhosh Dhayanidhi. The songs released ahead of the trailer have also garnered attention.

Ravi Maria and N. Azhagam Perumal are among the other actors in the cast.

Ekambaram, editor Mathi V.S. and production designer Umesh J Kumar. Madhan Karky and Mathi Pughazhenthi have penned the lyrics. Stunt Silva is the action choreographer, while Sandy Master has handled choreography. Chandrakant Sonawane is the costume designer and Pattanam Rasheed is the makeup artist.

T. Udayakumar has handled sound design and mixing, while Ranjith Venkatagopal and Saravana Kumar are credited for sound design. The VFX is by Bee Studio, with C. Gajendran as VFX head and Karthik Kambettan as VFX supervisor.

‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai’ is scheduled to release worldwide on October 1.
