Malayalam female artists' complaints: Women investigation team launches probe

Thiruvananthapuram: Allegations of harassment and sexual exploitation in the film industry continue to surface, leading a special police team to take action. The team, which includes women officers, has begun collecting preliminary information related to these claims.

On Tuesday, the police chief will lead a meeting to outline the investigation, which is set to commence the following day. The investigation will be thorough, led by women officers including a Deputy Inspector General (DIG). If any complainants are willing to provide statements, these will be recorded as part of the inquiry.

A woman writer accusing a director of harassment has submitted a formal complaint to the Chief Minister. The Bengali actress who has alleged misconduct by director Ranjith has filed a complaint with the Kochi City Police Commissioner.

Actress Minu Muneer has also made serious allegations, accusing prominent actors Jayasuriya, Mukesh, Edavela Babu, and Maniyanpilla Raju of misbehaviour. She has also named Lawyers Congress state president Adv V. S. Chandrasekharan and Production Controllers Noble and Vichu in her accusations and has said that complaints will be filed soon.

Moreover, a junior artist from Kottayam has accused actor Baburaj and director VA Sreekumar Menon of sexual assault. She has expressed her willingness to provide a confidential statement to the authorities.
