'He also wanted to come with me to fix my dress' Vincy Aloshious on working with a drug-using actor

Vincy Aloysius, the well-known Malayalam actress, has publicly addressed her decision to refrain from working with actors who use drugs, citing personal experiences that made her take a firm stand on the issue.
The initial statement came during her address at the inauguration of the 67th operational year of the KCYM Ernakulam-Angamaly Major Archdiocese, held at Pallippuram Church. There, she declared, “If I am aware that someone is using drugs, I will not act in any film with them.”
Following widespread discussions online, Vincy later posted a detailed video on Instagram to clarify the reasons behind her stand. In the video, she recounted a disturbing experience she had while working on a film with an actor who allegedly used drugs on set.
“When I was part of a film, I had an experience with the main actor. He used drugs and behaved in a way that was completely inappropriate, making it very difficult to continue working with him,” Vincy said.
She elaborated on one particularly uncomfortable incident: “When there was an issue with my dress, I went to get it fixed. He also wanted to come with me, saying, ‘I can help get it ready.’ This was said in front of everyone, and it made the situation very uncomfortable.”
Vincy also mentioned another moment during a rehearsal that confirmed her suspicions about the actor’s drug use. “During a scene practice, something white spilled from his mouth onto the table. It was very evident that he was using drugs on set, which created a nuisance for everyone around. It’s one thing to use drugs in personal life, but when it affects your professional environment, it becomes unacceptable,” she explained.
Based on these experiences, Vincy made it clear that her decision is rooted in self-respect and workplace safety. “I don’t want to work like that. I don’t want to work with someone who isn’t conscious of the impact their actions have on others. This is a decision based on my personal experience, and I stand by it.”
Responding to online comments and media reactions, she acknowledged the potential professional costs of her decision. “Maybe because of this decision, I might not get many opportunities in films going forward. But I want to say it openly: if I am aware that someone is using drugs, I will not act in any film with them,” she reiterated.
Vincy’s statements come amid ongoing scrutiny of drug use in the Malayalam film industry. Recent reports, including arrests linked to hybrid cannabis in Alappuzha and allegations involving actors, have reignited public and industry-level discussions about substance abuse and professionalism in the entertainment sector.
Her candid revelations have sparked a broader debate about maintaining a safe and respectful work culture in cinema, and her decision has been widely seen as a bold and principled stand.
