Anu Mohan as Ani in ‘Vilaayath Budha’; Prithviraj’s sandalwood saga gears up for November 21 release

The makers of ‘Vilaayath Budha’ have unveiled the character poster of actor Anu Mohan, who plays Ani in the much-anticipated Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer. The film, which is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 21, promises a powerful story set against the mystical backdrop of Marayoor’s sandalwood forests.
Directed by Jayan Nambiar and produced by Sandeep Senan under the banner of Urvashi Theatres, the film is based on the acclaimed novel ‘Vilaayath Budha’ by GR Indugopan. The story explores themes of revenge, love, and redemption, following the intense power struggle between generations, embodied by Prithviraj’s character, Double Mohan, a sandalwood smuggler.
The screenplay, written by GR Indugopan and Rajesh Pinnadan, blends the essence of the original novel with a cinematic edge of thrill and emotion. The production, co-produced by AV Anoop for AVA Productions, continues Urvashi Theatres’ legacy of quality storytelling after acclaimed films such as ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, ‘Sathyam Paranja Viswasikkuvo’, and ‘Saudi Vellakka’.
The film also features Priyamvada Krishnan in the female lead, alongside Shammi Thilakan, Rajashree Nair, and Teejay Arunasalam in pivotal roles.
On the technical front, ‘Vilaayath Budha’ boasts a strong creative team with Jakes Bejoy composing the music and cinematography by Arvind Kashyap, known for his work in ‘Kantara 1 & 2’ and ‘Bell Bottom’, along with Renadive.
The film’s promotions – including its teasers, posters, and the hit song ‘Kaattu Raasa’ – have already generated significant buzz on social media.
