With the countdown officially underway for the release of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, Marvel has unveiled a special promotional video featuring an unexpected crossover between Hollywood star Tom Holland and football icon Lionel Messi.

Weeks after the duo were spotted filming together, the makers released the much-awaited promo, bringing together one of the world's biggest superheroes and one of football's greatest players in a light-hearted adventure through New York City. The campaign arrives as excitement continues to build ahead of the film's worldwide release on July 30.

Messi goes looking for Spider-Man

The newly released teaser follows Lionel Messi as he sets out to find Spider-Man in New York City. His search eventually leads him to a neighbourhood coffee shop, where he unexpectedly meets Peter Parker.

After learning that the football legend is looking for Spider-Man, Peter quietly slips away, changes into his superhero suit and returns as the masked web-slinger. The surprise appearance leaves Messi awestruck before the pair are seen soaring through the city's skyline together in a sequence designed to celebrate the upcoming release.

The collaboration marks one of Marvel's biggest promotional campaigns for the film and has quickly become a talking point among both football and superhero fans.

Runtime reportedly among the franchise's longest

As anticipation grows, reports suggest ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ could become one of the longest live-action Spider-Man films ever made.

According to a post by @Cryptic4KQual, the final cut has reportedly been locked at 2 hours and 24 minutes (144 minutes). If accurate, the film would rank as the second-longest live-action Spider-Man movie, falling just four minutes short of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, which ran for 148 minutes.

Earlier speculation had suggested a runtime of around 150 minutes, which would have made it the franchise's longest instalment. However, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the final runtime, as the film is still awaiting certification ahead of its July 30 release.

For comparison, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ remains the longest live-action Spider-Man film at 148 minutes, followed by ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ at 142 minutes and ‘Spider-Man 3’ at 139 minutes.

Peter Parker begins a new chapter

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continues Peter Parker's journey after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, where Doctor Strange's spell erased the world's memory of his identity.

Marvel's latest instalment shifts towards a more grounded, street-level story, with Peter navigating life without MJ and Ned while embracing his role as New York City's full-time protector.

The official synopsis reads, "Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him, and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him, sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them."

Star-studded cast returns

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ marks Tom Holland's fourth standalone outing as Peter Parker within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film also features Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando and Tramell Tillman in key roles.

The superhero adventure is scheduled to release in Indian cinemas on July 30 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
