Mohanlal lights lamp as Mammootty joins to kick off multi-starrer in Sri Lanka | WATCH

A major project in Malayalam cinema has officially kicked off in Sri Lanka, marking a historic moment for fans of the industry. The multi-starrer film, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, brings together iconic actors Mohanlal and Mammootty after a quarter of a century. Along with the two legends, the movie also stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchako Boban, Nayanthara, and several other renowned actors.
Star cast and key crew members
Mohanlal lit the traditional ‘bhadradeepam’ (lamp) to mark the start of the filming process. Co-producers Subhash George Manual switched on the lights, while C.R. Salim did the first clap. Rajesh Krishna, Salim Sharjah, Anura Mathai, and Tejas Thampi also lit the lamp.
Mohanlal had already arrived in Sri Lanka earlier. With Mammootty and Kunchacko Boban joining him yesterday, the much-awaited project in Malayalam cinema has officially begun.
The film’s story and screenplay have been written by Mahesh Narayanan, with Anto Joseph as the producer. Co-producers include C. R. Salim and Subhash George Manuel, while Rajesh Krishna and C. V. Sarathy serve as executive producers. The film features a star-studded cast that includes Ranji Panicker, Rajeev Menon, Danish Hussain, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman, Revathi, Darshana Rajendran, and Sherin Shihab. Notable theatre artist and director Prakash Belawadi, known for his roles in Madras Cafe and Pathan, is also part of the project.
International locations and crew
The film will be shot over a period of 150 days, with locations not just in Sri Lanka, but also in London, Abu Dhabi, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kochi.
The cinematography is by Manush Nandan, a renowned Bollywood cinematographer, while Joseph Nellikkal serves as the production designer. Other key crew members include makeup artist Ranjith Ambady, costume designer Dhanya Balakrishnan, and production controller Dixon Poduthas.
