‘She made me who I am; My mother’s love and affection was always my strength’: Mohanlal

Actor Mohanlal paid tribute to his late mother Santhakumari and expressed gratitude to everyone who offered condolences. In a heartfelt social media post, he wrote that his mother had always been a source of strength in his life through her love and closeness.

“She made me who I am. My beloved mother was always my strength in my life through her love and closeness. I sincerely thank all my dear ones who stood by me, directly or indirectly, in my grief after her passing. To everyone who expressed condolences at home, through calls or via social media, once again my heartfelt thanks, love and prayers,” Mohanlal wrote.
 

 
 

Mohanlal’s mother, Santhakumari (90), passed away on Tuesday afternoon. She had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments for several years and was living at Mohanlal’s residence in Elamakkara, Kochi. Her husband was the late Vishwanathan Nair. Their eldest son Pyarelal, passed away in 2000.

Mohanlal shared a deep bond with his mother, making time for her care despite his busy schedule. Santhakumari was also a major influence on his cinematic journey, a fact Mohanlal has openly acknowledged on many occasions. He recently described sharing the Dadasaheb Phalke Award with his mother as a great privilege, noting that she was the first person he visited after receiving the news of the honour.
