Salman Khan's ‘Maatrubhumi’ new poster confirms 2026 release, but fans spot one big change

Salman Khan's upcoming war drama ‘Maatrubhumi’ has received a major update with the release of a new poster confirming its theatrical release in 2026. Shared by Salman Khan Films on Monday, the poster carries the tagline, "A soldier's promise. A family's strength. A nation's pride," along with the film's recurring message, "May War Rest in Peace."

The new artwork, which features Salman Khan in military uniform, has reassured fans after recent reports suggested the film had been delayed. However, it has also sparked speculation because it credits the project as "A Film by Salman Khan Films" instead of naming a director.

Director Apoorva Lakhia was previously announced as the filmmaker behind Maatrubhumi, but according to production sources, he reportedly exited the project earlier this month following creative differences. While neither Salman Khan Films nor Lakhia has officially addressed the development, the omission of his name from the latest poster has fueled speculation that he is no longer associated with the film. No replacement director has been announced.

Originally titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, the film was renamed ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace in April’. Inspired by the June 15, 2020, Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the film tells the story of Colonel Santosh Babu, commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who led Indian soldiers during the confrontation.

Salman Khan stars as Colonel Santosh Babu, with Chitrangda Singh playing the female lead. Abhilash Chaudhary and Ankur Bhatia also feature in key roles, while Himesh Reshammiya has composed the film's music.
