Crime Master Gogo returns! Andaz Apna Apna re-release after 30 years

Bollywood’s beloved cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, starring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, will be re-released in theatres across India on 25 April 2025. The announcement was made by Salman Khan via X (formerly Twitter), who shared a nostalgic trailer showcasing some of the film’s most iconic moments along with the caption: “Amar Prem Ka Andaaz is back...”
The film, which originally released in 1994, gained massive popularity over the years for its witty dialogues, memorable performances, and characters like the hilarious Crime Master Gogo, played by Shakti Kapoor. Co-starring Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Andaz Apna Apna is now considered one of Indian cinema’s definitive comedy classics.
According to the announcement, the film has been restored and remastered in 4K and Dolby 5.1 to offer fans a refreshed viewing experience on the big screen. The official Instagram handle of the film also confirmed the re-release, posting a poster with the caption: “Experience the cult classic on the big screen!”
Fans flooded social media with excitement, quoting the film’s iconic lines and expressing anticipation. Comments like “Dosti, Deewangi aur Dhamaakedaar Comedy… Ek baar phir se, Andaz Apna Apna” captured the mood of long-time admirers of the film.
Adding to the buzz, the children of late producer Vinay Sinha—Namrata, Priti, and Amod Sinha—revealed that discussions about a potential sequel are ongoing. Speaking to The Times of India, they shared that both Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have shown interest in reprising their roles. Talks with director Rajkumar Santoshi have reportedly continued for years, though no final script has yet been locked. The family confirmed that formal announcements would follow the re-release.
Originally released in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna was not an immediate commercial success but gradually achieved cult status due to its unique humour, eccentric characters, and quotable lines. The film's irreverent comedy and charming chaos earned it an enduring legacy among Indian film fans.
