Renowned Mollywood film editor KP Hariharaputhran no more

Thiruvananthapuram: Noted Malayalam film editor KP Hariharaputhran passed away on Saturday. He was 79. He breathed his last at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. The funeral will take place at 2 pm at Shanthi Kavadam, Thycaud. He edited several popular Malayalam movies, including ‘Punjabi House’, ‘Pandippada’ and ‘Thommanum Makkalum’.
Numerous people from the film fraternity, including Madhupal, condoled the demise of Puthran, who was active in the industry for around 50 years. His last work was ‘The Great Indian Road Movie’, directed by Sohanlal, in 2019.
“Condolences dear Hariharaputhran sir. He was the editor of several popular Malayalam films. Prayers,” Madhupal wrote on social media.
KP Hariharaputhran has worked as an assistant editor, associate editor and editor in Malayalam movies. He served as the assistant editor of the 1971 release ‘Vilakku Vangiya Veena’ and later became the associate editor of ‘Vithukal’ in the same year.
His first independent editing venture was the 1979-horror film ‘Kalliyankattu Neeli’, directed by M Krishnan Nair. His other major works include ‘April 18’, ‘Sukhamo Devi’, ‘Vivahithare Ithile’, ‘Saravakalashala,’ ‘Chakoram’, ‘Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava’, ‘The Car’, 'Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshathrathilakkam' ‘Punjabi House’, ‘Pandippada’, ‘Thommanum Makkalum’, ‘Mayavi’, Chathikkatha Chanthu’ among others.
