Did we try to stop your film?: Parasakthi actor alleges Vijay fans sabotaged Sivakarthikeyan movie

Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, was released in theatres on Saturday after overcoming censorship hurdles. The film, set in 1960s Madras, explores the anti-Hindi imposition agitation in Tamil Nadu, focusing on political activism, family loyalty, and social struggle.
Dev Ramnath shared screenshots of negative reviews on X and expressed concern that fans of Vijay were deliberately undermining Parasakthi, despite the film announcing its release date first.
Ramnath highlighted the challenges his team faced at the CBFC office in Chennai and Mumbai, securing certification less than 18 hours before release. He alleged that negative reviews, old videos, political slogans in theatres, and interference with BMS ratings were being used to sabotage the film. He added that similar actions had occurred against another big film last year and called such behaviour unhealthy for the industry.
The film features performances by Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, Basil Joseph, and Papri Ghosh. While receiving mixed reviews, Parasakthi has resonated with audiences for its historical backdrop and performances. The postponement of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan allowed Parasakthi a near-monopoly during the festive release period, intensifying competition and fan rivalry.
