New Kerala Chalachitra Academy Chairman to be appointed soon following Ranjith’s exit

Thiruvananthapuram: Following the resignation of Director Ranjith, the Kerala Chalachitra Academy is in need of a new chairperson. The Kerala Department of Cultural Affairs has assured that the process will not be delayed.
The new chairman will play a crucial role in preparing for the Cinema Conclave scheduled in Kochi this November and the International Film Festival set to take place in Thiruvananthapuram in December. Preparations for both events are already underway. The 2023 Film Awards should also be presented before the film festival.
The government is also engaged in drafting a Cinema Policy, which will be discussed at the conclave.
Until a new chairman is appointed, a decision about who will temporarily take over the responsibilities may be made on Monday. During Ranjith's health-related absence, Vice Chairman and actor Premkumar had been overseeing the academy's activities. As such, Premkumar is expected to manage the academy's affairs until a new chairman is appointed.
