Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a striking entry on Wednesday at the preview launch of The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, the directorial debut of his son Aryan Khan.

Dressed in a dark ensemble, Shah Rukh charmed the crowd with his trademark wit. “I would like to acknowledge that none of us would be here right now, the show wouldn’t have been made, and all of this would not have been possible without the unwavering faith, support, and strength from me,” he joked, earning laughter from the audience.

Adding a quirky detail to his look, the actor sported an arm cast etched with the show’s initials, a nod to his ongoing recovery from an injury reportedly sustained during the shooting of King. Speaking about his recent National Award win, he quipped, “My one hand is enough for picking the National Award.” Watch the video below:

Aryan Khan, who attended the event with his mother and producer Gauri Khan, shared a glimpse of his Netflix series. In the preview, Aryan appears on screen, saying: “Bollywood – jisse aapne salon se pyaar bhi kiya aur vaar bhi kiya, main bhi wahi karunga, bohot saara pyaar… aur thoda sa vaar.”

Shah Rukh’s close friends — superstar Salman Khan, filmmaker Karan Johar, and actor Ranveer Singh — also make appearances in the preview clip.

During the event, Shah Rukh expressed gratitude to Bobby for his role in bringing the project together with Aryan.

“We’ve been working together for over 30 years, so our bond goes beyond formality. I never imagined that one day, we’d not only grow older but also work alongside our children. Thank you, Bobby, for adding warmth, love, and gravitas to this show,” Shah Rukh said.

Bobby, visibly moved, called it a special day for him as well. “I can feel what you’re going through at this moment, Shah Rukh. I feel it too, because I’ve seen Aryan grow up. When I met him later, the way he spoke and shared his thoughts, I could sense something magical — that he was ready to conquer the world. And today proves it,” he said. The 56-year-old actor revealed that he agreed to join the project the moment Red Chillies reached out.

“They told me Aryan was making a show and asked if I’d meet him. I said yes immediately. But Aryan insisted on narrating it to me, so I sat with him for seven hours. Honestly, more than listening to the script, I was watching Aryan, and I was just so proud and happy,” he recalled.

Written and directed by Aryan Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, The Ba**ds of Bollywood* promises an edgy take on the world of cinema. The series premieres on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
