One of the notable events in the Malayalam film industry yesterday was the meeting between Dr. Jemmy Kuriakose and superstar Mohanlal. The encounter was particularly meaningful as Jemmy, now a renowned psychiatrist in Germany, was inspired by Mohanlal’s portrayal of ‘Dr. Sunny’ in the iconic film *Manichitrathazhu*, directed by Fazil.

During their meeting at Mohanlal’s flat in Kochi on Saturday, the two discussed a range of topics. Mohanlal, known for his calm demeanour, listened intently as Jemmy described how the character from the psychological thriller motivated him to pursue psychiatry. Jemmy reminisced about attending three back-to-back screenings of ‘Manichitrathazhu’ on its release day 30 years ago at the 'Saint George' theatre in Chingavanam.

In their conversation, Mohanlal also shared insights about some of his roles, including his performance in Priyadarshan's ‘Thalavattam’, another film addressing mental health issues. When Jemmy asked if Mohanlal had observed real psychiatrists to prepare for his role in ‘Manichitrathazhu’, Mohanlal replied modestly, “No, I did not. It just happens. Some unknown force or blessing makes me do all those things on screen.”

Dr. Jemmy also presented Mohanlal with two special posters of *Manichitrathazhu*, designed by Sabu Colonia, which he plans to display in his office and home in Germany. Mohanlal examined the posters closely and became emotional as he spoke about the late actors Kuthiravattam Pappu and K. P. A. C. Lalitha, who are featured in the posters.

The meeting concluded with Mohanlal signing the posters and sharing a heartfelt hug with Dr. Jemmy.
