Mohanlal is an all-generation actor; we’re targeting superstar’s ‘sleeper cell’ fans: Tharun Moorthy

Tharun Moorthy’s Thudarum has opened to a thunderous response at the box office, with audiences hailing the sparkling chemistry between Mohanlal and Shobana, and Mohanlal’s return to top form, reminiscent of his heyday.
Thudarum, which hit theatres after much anticipation on Friday, opened to rave reviews, with many praising it as a gripping thriller. The writing by KR Sunil and the ‘surprise’ performance by Prakash Varma have won accolades, with audiences flocking to theatres.
Meanwhile, in an interaction with Club FM, Tharun Moorthy hailed Mohanlal as an all-generation actor.
“See, Mohanlal has a section of fans—I would like to refer to them as the ‘sleeper cells’. They are those people who remain silent when the actor’s movie flops or when the superstar is criticised for poor outings. They are not the ones who take to the internet to express their ire, anguish, or frustration in such situations. Instead, they keep their calm and wait for Lalettan’s majestic comeback—which he has always delivered, time and again, in his career spanning decades. I hope such audiences will take up my movie and celebrate it,” said Tharun Moorthy.
“We have been careful with the narration of Thudarum. The story has been given utmost importance, and we believe the screenplay has been developed in sync with the story,” the budding director added, reflecting his efforts to bring back the vintage Mohanlal on the big screen.
With largely positive reviews, Thudarum once again solidifies Mohanlal’s position as the undisputed box office powerhouse of Malayalam cinema. The fact that this success comes within a month of the historic Empuraan is just the icing on the cake!
