Originally announced for a May 21 release, the re-release was postponed, and now, the updated version is all set to arrive in cinemas on June 6, 2025. The news was confirmed by both Mohanlal and director Anwar Rasheed, sparking a flood of reactions on social media. One user called it “Lalettan’s Eid programme”, while another hailed it as the “most awaited re-release”.

Directed by Anwar Rasheed and written by Benny P. Nayarambalam, ‘Chotta Mumbai’ features Mohanlal in one of his most iconic roles as Vasco da Gama, fondly known as ‘Thala’. The film also stars Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, Indrajith Sukumaran, Bhavana, Sai Kumar and others, with music by Rahul Raj.

The movie revolves around Vasco and his gang of carefree friends who find themselves caught between a corrupt cop and a gangster named Nadeshan.
