Matt Damon may have worked with some of the biggest filmmakers in Hollywood. Presently, he will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Greek epic fantasy film ‘The Odyssey’, which will hit cinema halls on July 17, marking his third collaboration with the ‘Interstellar’ director. But when asked which Indian director he would most like to collaborate with, the Academy Award-winning actor didn't hesitate in naming Shekhar Kapur. Speaking to the media in Mumbai on Saturday during the promotions of ‘The Odyssey’, Damon also revealed that he owes the veteran Indian filmmaker a "20-year-old debt".

Talking about the Indian director he'd like to collaborate with, Damon said, “The filmmaker that everyone wanted to collaborate with was Shekhar Kapur. And I remember when I couldn't do ‘The Four Feathers’ for some reason, and I was really upset about that.”

“But I think I was signed up for a ‘Bourne’ movie. So I guess he's always been on my list, and so I'd like to have another go. That's like a 20-year-old little debt I've been carrying around in my pocket,” added Damon, who had to decline Kapur’s offer as its schedule conflicted with the 2002 film ‘The Bourne Identity’ directed by Doug Liman.

Kapur’s ‘The Four Feathers’ was initially offered to Damon for the lead role of Harry Faversham. However, due to Damon’s unavailability, the role then landed with the late actor Heath Ledger. Based on AEW Mason’s 1902 novel by the same name, ‘The Four Feathers’ starred Ledger in the lead alongside Wes Bentley, Kate Hudson, Djimon Hounsou, and Michael Sheen.

Meanwhile, Damon, who is presently in India on a two-day tour for the promotion of ‘The Odyssey’, will be seen playing the Greek king Odysseus. While Anne Hathaway plays his on-screen wife Queen Penelope, Tom Holland will be seen essaying the character of Odysseus’s son, Telemachus. Written and directed by Nolan and produced by Emma Thomas, ‘The Odyssey’ has been shot across multiple locations in Morocco, Italy, and Greece. 'The Odyssey' team, comprising Damon, Nolan, Holland, and Thomas, also held a special screening of the film for media and fans on Friday.
