Actress Manju Warrier has expressed her support for survivors who have spoken out against wrongdoing in the film industry. In a recent Instagram post, she praised their courage, stating, “Let’s just not forget all of this started because one woman actually had the gumption to fight.”

Her post comes on the heels of actor Siddique’s resignation as General Secretary of AMMA and director Ranjith’s resignation as Chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy. These resignations follow serious allegations made by Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra against Ranjith. Mitra, who was involved in the production of the 2009-10 film ‘Paleri Manikyam,’ accused Ranjith of inappropriate behavior during the shoot, leaving her fearful and distressed. She revealed that Ranjith’s actions made her feel unsafe staying overnight at her hotel.

The controversy surrounding Siddique dates back to 2016 when a young actress accused him of molestation. She reiterated her claims after the Hema Committee report was released, stating that Siddique sexually harassed her at Muscat Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram, after offering her a film role.

With the release of the Hema Committee report, more allegations against prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry are emerging.
