Mammootty’s Birthday: Samrajyam re-release teaser reminds fans that Alexander is a different man | WATCH

This Sunday, on Mammootty’s 74th birthday, fans were treated to a nostalgic surprise. Magic Frames released the teaser of Jomon’s 1990 cult hit Samrajyam, starring the megastar as the unforgettable don Alexander.

The teaser has brought back some of the film’s most powerful moments, featuring lines like “I am Alexander” and “He is a different man”. These dialogues, remembered by fans across generations, once again echo Mammootty’s screen dominance.

Restored in 4K with Dolby Atmos, the gangster drama will re-release in theatres on September 19. Originally produced by Ajmal Hassan under the Arifa Productions banner and scripted by Shibu Chakravarthy, the film is now being distributed by Arifa Release.

A landmark film

When it released in 1990, Samrajyam was one of Mammootty’s biggest films, made on a budget estimated between Rs 75 lakh and Rs 1 crore. Its stylish execution, complete with Benz cars and grand visuals, earned huge praise and established Mammootty as a larger-than-life action star.

The film’s success extended beyond Kerala, running for 100 and 200 days in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This wide acceptance cemented its reputation as one of the most successful gangster dramas in South Indian cinema.
