Are we getting a sequel to Mohanlal’s ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’?

Fans of Mohanlal and Lijo Jose Pellissery might have reason to celebrate soon. Despite the mixed reviews and modest box office performance of ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban,’ recent hints from the filmmakers suggest that a sequel could be on the horizon.
The official Instagram account for ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ recently posted a story with the message, ‘Coming soon’. Adding to the speculation, the handle’s name has been updated to ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban II’. While there hasn't been an official announcement, these developments have fans buzzing with anticipation.
When ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ premiered on January 25, it was marketed as a high-energy, mass entertainer. However, audiences were surprised to find a slower-paced drama, which didn’t quite match the initial hype. The film’s ending hinted at a grander narrative yet to unfold, leaving room for a potential sequel.
The recent social media activity has reignited excitement among fans, who are hopeful that the sequel will address the first film’s shortcomings and deliver a more engaging experience.
Mohanlal plays the role of Chemboth Simon in the first part of the film. The film was set in the pre-independence era, and is a mass action entertainer with visuals shot across Rajasthan, Chennai, and Puducherry for around 130 days.
The film is written by PS Rafeeque and features cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan and music by Prashanth Pillai.
While fans eagerly await an official confirmation, the signs point to the possibility that ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban II’ could soon become a reality, promising to continue the saga with greater impact and engagement.
