Maharaja makes waves in China; fans’ emotional reaction goes viral | WATCH

Tamil film Maharaja, starring Vijay Sethupathi, was a major success across India, following its release in Tamil last year. Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, the film was Vijay Sethupathi's 50th movie.
It received critical acclaim and was recently released in China with a dubbed Chinese version, where it has also garnered positive reactions. Now viral videos of moviegoers' reactions to watching the movie have gone viral on social media.
The Chinese version of Maharaja premiered on November 29, and the video circulating online shows theatregoers emotionally reacting to the film, with some even breaking down in tears.
The film's success in China adds to the growing trend of Indian films centred on father-daughter relationships performing well in the country. Films like Dangal and Singing Superstar have also seen significant success in China.
Maharaja has earned a box office collection of Rs 172 crores, making it the first film in Vijay Sethupathi's career to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. In China alone, the film reportedly surpassed Rs 25 crore in earnings, making it the highest-grossing Tamil film.
Additionally, the film made it to the top 10 list of non-English films in Taiwan's Netflix rankings on June 18, maintaining its position for six consecutive weeks.
The film has received widespread praise in both Chinese and Taiwanese online media, with special recognition given to Vijay Sethupathi's performance.
