Will always stay close to heart: Lokesh celebrates 1 year of 'Leo' with heartfelt tribute to Vijay

The Tamil film 'Leo', one of the most anticipated releases of 2023, hit the screens on October 19 last year and went on to achieve massive success at the box office. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Leo' made a huge impact, becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023, with an impressive box office collection of over Rs 620 crore.

'Leo' is part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and cleverly weaves in references to previous LCU films like 'Kaithi' and 'Vikram'. The film features an ensemble cast, including Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Madonna Sebastian, Sandy, George Maryan, and Mathew Thomas.

The music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, added to the film’s gripping narrative and high-energy scenes.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s heartfelt message

Celebrating Leo's first anniversary, Lokesh Kanagaraj took to X  to share his fond memories and gratitude for the film. In his heartfelt post, the director expressed how much the film means to him.

"So many learnings, so many memories, so many exciting moments. The film that will always stay close to my heart, #Leo," Kanagaraj wrote.

"Love you so much @actorvijay na for making it happen. Eternally grateful to all the people who have spent their sweat and blood for this film, and the audience. #1yearofLeo.." he added.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently working on his next big project, 'Coolie', which stars Rajinikanth. The film also features an exciting ensemble cast, including Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. Unlike 'Leo', 'Coolie' is a standalone film and not part of the LCU.

Fans of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, however, need not worry, as the director confirmed that more LCU films are on the way. He recently announced his plans for 'Kaithi 2' and 'Rolex', two highly anticipated sequels that will further expand his cinematic universe.

Rumours of 'Leo 2' stir excitement

In addition to 'Kaithi 2' and 'Rolex', rumors have been swirling about the possibility of 'Leo 2', with speculation that actor Sivakarthikeyan might take the lead. While nothing is officially confirmed, Lokesh has teased that a collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan is on the horizon. This news has already generated buzz among fans, who are eagerly awaiting more updates.
