‘Lokah: Chapter One Chandra’ emerges as second Malayalam film to touch ₹100 crore overseas

Kochi: Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films has notched up another major box office success with its seventh venture, Lokah: Chapter One – Chandra. After crossing the ₹200 crore mark worldwide to become only the fourth Malayalam film to do so, the movie has now achieved a fresh milestone with its soaring overseas collections.
Lokah has also grossed over ₹100 crore from overseas markets, making it the second Malayalam film to do so. The big-budget fantasy thriller, directed and written by Dominic Arun, stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in lead roles. Dulquer and Tovino Thomas also appear in key roles in the movie.
Released just two weeks ago, the film entered the ₹100 crore club within seven days of release. It is now one of Malayalam cinema’s all-time blockbusters, with record-breaking collections still pouring in from across India and overseas. The dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi are also performing strongly.
Produced as part of a five-part superhero cinematic universe, Lokah draws inspiration from the folklore of Kalliyankattu Neeli, presenting audiences with a fantasy world on an epic scale. A special announcement revealed that Mammootty will play the key character ‘Moothon’ in the upcoming instalments of the franchise.
The film also features a host of guest appearances alongside Chandu Salimkumar, Arun Kurian, Sharath Sabha, Nishant Sagar, and Vijayaraghavan.
