Los Angeles: Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves has offered a rare glimpse into his relationship with longtime partner Alexandra Grant, saying it is easy to understand why people describe the artist as someone who is “easy to love”.

The couple shared insights into their personal and creative lives while attending the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Gala in Los Angeles, where they discussed how their relationship has influenced their artistic work over the years.

When asked whether he agreed with the suggestion that Grant is an “easy woman to love”, Reeves responded enthusiastically: “Yes!”

The discussion then turned to the impact their romance has had on their respective creative pursuits. Grant, a visual artist whose work has been showcased in galleries across the United States, said her relationship with the actor has had a noticeable effect on her paintings.

“That's a big question,” Grant said.

Reflecting on the connection between her personal experiences and artistic expression, she added: “I would say that all painting is autobiographical, even though maybe even in abstraction it doesn't look like there's a big narrative, but I would definitely say that my paintings become happier.”

Grant acknowledged that the happiness she experiences in her relationship with Reeves has inevitably found its way into her work.

“It's undeniable,” she added of the happy tinge that loving Reeves adds to her work.

“I have to admit that.”

Reeves, however, was more reserved when discussing whether the relationship had altered his own creative output.

“I don't know if it has,” he said.

The pair first collaborated professionally before becoming romantically involved. They worked together on ‘Ode to Happiness’, a book written by Reeves and illustrated by Grant, and later co-founded a publishing company. Their relationship became public in 2019 after years of friendship and creative partnership.

Beyond their own projects, the couple said they remain committed to supporting the wider arts community. Speaking at the MOCA Gala, which they also attended together in 2024, Reeves and Grant emphasised the importance of championing artists and helping create opportunities for others to showcase their work.

Reeves has enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades. He made his screen debut in the 1985 short film ‘One Step Away’ before appearing in ‘River's Edge’ and several television productions, including ‘Babes in Toyland’, ‘Act of Vengeance’ and ‘Brotherhood of Justice’. His first leading role came in the 1988 drama ‘Permanent Record’, in which he portrayed a teenager coping with the suicide of a close friend. He later rose to international fame through the science-fiction comedy ‘Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure’ and went on to become one of Hollywood's most recognisable stars. (IANS)
