Prominent directors including Vetrimaaran, P.A. Ranjith, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, and Mahesh Narayanan recently lauded Indian cinema icon Mammootty in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. They discussed Mammootty's unique approach to character selection and the transformations he brings to his performances, expressing admiration for his commitment to producing high-quality films.

Mahesh Narayanan remarked on the pressures actors face when they become stars, stating, "They feel the need for their films to earn crores and be blockbusters. However, Mammootty remains unaffected by such pressures. Whether a film requires 40 days of shooting or involves a minor role, he approaches it with the same dedication. What matters to him is how his character is written, and he constantly seeks to explore new avenues in his career. He has portrayed a wide variety of roles, akin to the versatility of Amitabh Bachchan."

Vetrimaaran added that Mammootty serves as a significant inspiration for new actors, stating that young performers aspire to emulate him. He noted that Mammootty’s involvement in the films further adds to their appeal, emphasising the actor's pivotal role in the industry.
