Indian cinema is gearing up for a monumental comeback as legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are set to share the screen after a gap of 46 years. Kamal Haasan confirmed the exciting news during the NEXA SIIMA Awards 2025 in Dubai on September 6. Though the film’s details remain under wraps, reports suggest that acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for hits like Vikram and Coolie, may helm the project.

Speculation about the collaboration had been swirling for weeks, and Kamal Haasan’s announcement delighted fans across Tamil cinema. Speaking at the event, he remarked, “We came together long ago but chose to stay apart because the directors kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half each. We wanted a full biscuit each, and we got it and relished it well. Now we are content with just half a biscuit again, so we have come together.”

The pairing of these two screen legends hasn’t been seen since their last joint venture, 1979’s Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum. Both actors, who started their careers under the mentorship of the late director K Balachander, shared the screen in several iconic films during the 1970s, such as Apoorva Raagangal, Moondru Mudichu, and 16 Vayathinile. Fans are eagerly awaiting this once-in-a-lifetime reunion.
