Jayaram's first look from Madhavan's ‘GDN’ revealed

The makers of Madhavan's upcoming biographical drama ‘GDN’ have introduced Jayaram's character from the film ahead of its theatrical release.

On Wednesday, the team unveiled the veteran actor's first-look poster, revealing that he will be seen as Ambalapara Krishnan, a character expected to play a significant role in the story.

Sharing the poster on Instagram, production house Varghese Moolans Pictures wrote, "Introducing @actorjayaram_official as Ambalapara Krishnan. Some men don't serve power. They serve principles. G.D.N in theatres from 7th August."

The announcement comes after the makers revealed the character posters of several other cast members. Vinay Rai will be seen as Bhupendra, while Dushara Vijayan plays Ranganayaki. Karunakaran has been cast as Perunkili, and Aditi Balan will appear as Padmavathi. The film also features Sheela as the young Chellamal and Teejay Arunasalam as the younger version of GD Naidu.

Directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, ‘GDN’ is based on the life of legendary inventor, industrialist, agriculturist and philanthropist GD Naidu, often referred to as one of India's greatest innovators. The biopic is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 7.

The film's recently released trailer has already generated interest among audiences. It opens with a voice claiming that GD Naidu had lost his mind in his later years after blowing up one of his own buildings.

Jayaram's character appears to be one of the film's key antagonistic forces. In one scene from the trailer, Ambalapara Krishnan questions GD Naidu's financial dealings, asking why someone who charges high fees would hesitate to pay taxes. The trailer also shows him directing police officers to raid GD Naidu's premises over allegations that counterfeit currency printing machines were being developed there. As the investigation unfolds, the British officials are shown realising that GD Naidu's accounts are in order and that he has been operating within the law.

Apart from Madhavan and Jayaram, ‘GDN’ features Priyamani, Sathyaraj, Carl Andrew Harte, Dushara Vijayan, Karunakaran, Aditi Balan, Vinay Rai and Teejay Arunasalam in pivotal roles.

The film has music composed by Govind Vasantha, while Aravind Kamalanathan has handled the cinematography. With its ensemble cast and a story inspired by one of India's most celebrated inventors, ‘GDN’ is set to arrive in theatres worldwide on August 7.
