Veteran writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that falsely claims he has “turned to God,” stating that the clip is artificially generated and completely fake. The lyricist addressed the issue in a post shared on the social media platform X on Friday.

Calling the video misleading, Akhtar said it features a computer-generated image of him wearing a cap and making statements he never said. He stressed that the content was created using artificial intelligence and has no basis in reality.

In his post, Akhtar warned that such fabricated videos pose a serious threat to a person's reputation and credibility. He said he is seriously considering approaching the cyber police and taking legal action against those responsible for creating and circulating the video.

“It is rubbish,” he wrote, adding that he may pursue legal action not only against the creator but also against those who knowingly forwarded the misleading content.

"I am seriously considering to report this to the cyber police and ultimately dragged the person responsible for this fake news and those few who forward it to the court for damaging my reputation and credibility," he wrote.

This is not the first instance of AI-generated or morphed content involving public figures gaining traction online. In recent months, manipulated videos and images of several celebrities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Kangana Ranaut, Katrina Kaif, and Akshay Kumar, have surfaced on social media, raising concerns about misuse of artificial intelligence and digital safety.
