Is Prabhas behind Deepika Padukone’s exit from ‘Spirit’ and ‘Kalki 2’?

Deepika Padukone has faced a turbulent year in Bollywood and Tollywood, losing out on two major projects, ‘Spirit’ and ‘Kalki 2’. Both films, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Nag Ashwin respectively, featured Prabhas in lead roles opposite her. This coincidence has sparked speculation among fans about whether Prabhas played a part in Deepika’s ousting from the films.
Did Prabhas influence Deepika’s exit?
According to a report by Great Andhra, some of Deepika Padukone’s fans suspect that Prabhas had a hand in her being removed from both projects.
Fans argue, “if Prabhas had intervened, the makers would not have dropped Deepika from the films. However, by not interfering, Prabhas indirectly supported their decision to drop Deepika from the films.”
However, the same report also cites a source clarifying that Prabhas does not get involved in casting decisions for his movies. “He stayed away from all the discussions between the makers and Deepika,” the source said.
Vyjayanthi Movies recently confirmed Deepika’s exit from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel via an official note on X. This marked the second Prabhas film from which she was removed this year.
Earlier, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had removed Deepika from Spirit. Reports suggest that her demands, including eight-hour workdays, a high salary, and a share in the film’s profits, did not sit well with the director. Deepika, who is now a mother, is reportedly trying to balance her work and personal life by limiting her working hours.
