Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran actor Indrans, who wishes to complete his class 10 studies, faced a setback after he was informed that he will have to first clear his class 7 exams before attempting to get through class 10. In fact, it is necessary to do so as per the rules of the Literacy Mission.

A few days ago, Indrans had expressed his desire to clear class 10 at the Nava Kerala Sadas venue. He also handed over an application for facilitating his entry into class 10. The national award winning actor said that he remembers going to school till class 4 but was forced to discontinue school owing to poverty. But now, Literacy Mission director Prof AG OIeena has collected information from the actor’s yesteryear classmates and has come to the conclusion that the actor had actually gone to school for up to class 7. But there is no evidence available suggesting that Indran’s had successfully passed class 7.

Under the current situation, Indrans will be able to pursue his studies with the help of literacy preraks without having to sit in the regular classrooms. Such classes are usually 6-7 months long, but the actor will be given concessions. “I remember going to school till class 4. I wish to clear class 10 exams now. But I am not really aware of the technicalities/hurdles involved,” said Indrans.

However, the authorities are also looking into the possibilities of facilitating the actor’s entry into class 10 via ‘Akshara Sree’ by retrieving his UP class records. It was DR Anil, a ward councillor and good friend of Indrans, who motivated the latter to pursue class 10. The actor is said to be a little tensed when it comes to subjects like Hindi and English.

The ‘Literacy Mission’ is going all out to help the actor realise his dream.
