Indian box office hits ₹11,657 crore by November 2025; Malayalam Cinema also shines with fifth place

Kochi: India’s box office collections are heading towards a historic record. According to figures from January to November this year, the Indian box office has collected ₹11,657 crore. This marks an 18 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. If December collections add another ₹570 crore, the industry will achieve its highest-ever annual total. The all-time record for the Indian box office currently stands at ₹12,226 crore, achieved in 2023. With December figures expected soon, indications are that 2025 will become a record-breaking year for Indian cinema.
In November alone, the Indian box office collected ₹587 crore. The Hindi film ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ topped the list with ₹143 crore, followed by ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ with ₹85 crore. ‘Eko’, which earned ₹30 crore, was the only Malayalam film to feature in the top 10. Among the films leading December collections is Mammootty-starrer ‘Kalamkaval’.
Of the record collections in 2023, ₹5,380 crore came from Hindi films. Malayalam cinema collected ₹572 crore that year. Of the ₹11,657 crore collected by November 2025, the highest monthly contribution came in October with ₹1,666 crore, while March recorded the lowest collection at ₹580 crore.
In 2025 box office collections, Hindi films accounted for 39 per cent of the total. Telugu cinema ranked second with 19 per cent, followed by Tamil at 15 per cent. Malayalam cinema, with a nine per cent share, stood fifth in the overall list.
