The highly anticipated film Indian 2, directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan, has nosedived in the theaters despite its massive investment of around 250 crores. The film's poor performance has not only raised concerns about its box office collections but also put its OTT release in trouble.

The film had sold its OTT distribution rights to Netflix before its release, but now there are reports suggesting that the streaming company is reconsidering the deal. According to a report by TrackTollywood, Netflix acquired the streaming rights of Indian 2 for 120 crores and make payment before its release.

Due to the film's poor box office performance, sources reveal that Netflix has expressed dissatisfaction with the agreement and has asked the producers to return half of the payment.

With the movie's production cost at around 250 crores, it has earned only around 81 crores in India and a global total of 147 crores. It has also been reported that the makers of Indian 2 removed certain parts of the film after receiving continuous negative feedback on the first day.

As per industry norms, OTT platforms typically decide the final deal amount based on a film's box office performance. Given Indian 2's poor showing, it is likely that Netflix will rethink the deal with the producers.

It is learnt that the movie's OTT premiere may also be delayed until the matter is resolved.
