Film industry body condemns firing at Tiger Shroff; Seeks protection for actor and family

Mumbai: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called for immediate security measures for Tiger Shroff and his family following a firing incident involving the actor’s vehicle in Mumbai. The organisation has also urged the Maharashtra government and police to take decisive action, warning that repeated attacks on members of the film industry raise serious concerns about their safety.
The incident took place in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, when unidentified assailants opened fire at a car carrying Tiger. The actor escaped without any gunshot injuries, but his driver, Firdous, sustained a bullet wound to his left hand. An autorickshaw driver was also injured in the shooting, according to police reports.
FWICE calls for immediate security measures
In its statement, FWICE condemned the attack and pointed to an earlier firing incident involving filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
"Such acts of violence and intimidation are completely unacceptable and raise serious concerns about the safety and security of personalities associated with the Indian film industry. It is deeply disturbing that this is the second such incident involving a prominent personality from the film industry, following the earlier firing incident involving renowned filmmaker Mr. Rohit Shetty. The recurrence of such incidents is a matter of grave concern and calls for immediate, decisive and effective action by the concerned authorities," the statement read.
The organisation also called for a prompt investigation to identify those responsible.
"Thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation into the incident so that those responsible are identified and brought to justice," FWICE demanded.
It further appealed to the Maharashtra government and police to strengthen security arrangements for members of the entertainment industry.
"We appeal to the Government of Maharashtra and the concerned police authorities to take serious cognizance of these repeated attacks and implement effective measures to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all personalities associated with the film industry," the organisation said.
Bishnoi gang claim and threat linked to Salman Khan
The firing incident took another turn after messages circulated on social media claiming that members associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were responsible for the attack. Individuals identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu reportedly claimed responsibility and issued a warning to people in the film industry who work with Salman Khan.
Reports also said the message demanded a public apology from Salman. The people behind the claim allegedly said Tiger had been warned earlier and threatened further action against those who continued to ignore their demands.
Mumbai Police are investigating the incident and examining the claims as part of the probe.
Mumbai police form 15 teams to investigate
Police have formed 15 teams to track down the assailants and investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and gathering evidence from the area.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg, the incident occurred at around 7 pm on Sunday as Tiger was leaving the Juhu area in his vehicle. The actor escaped without any bullet injuries, while his driver was taken for medical treatment after being shot in the left hand.
The police have also recorded the driver's statement as part of the investigation. Officials are working to establish the sequence of events, identify the people involved and determine the motive behind the attack.
Eknath Shinde visits Tiger Shroff
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Tiger's residence on Sunday night to enquire about his well-being and reassure the family of the state government's support.
Photographs from the meeting showed Tiger with dressings around his shoulder and chest and a bandage on his right arm. His mother, Ayesha Shroff, was also present.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Shinde condemned the shooting and said Tiger had suffered injuries caused by gunpowder and fragments of broken glass. He assured the actor and his family that the government would take the necessary steps to address their security concerns.
